What is HVNL (Heavy Vehicle National Law)

The HVNL is the law for all transport operators in Australia set by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. A Federally appointed body based in Queensland. These laws are derived from the industry and each law is put in place to ensure the safety of all operators in the Heavy Vehicle industry. Operators are required to recognise these laws and ensure the all business/ transport practices meet the laws with full compliance.

What is Mass Management?

Mass Management accreditation is a scheme under NHVAS (National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme) which allows approved operators to carry higher weight limits increasing efficiency and payload dividends through what is called Concessional Mass Limits (CML).

The Scheme is governed and monitored by the NHVR (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) and by local jurisdiction and enforcement. Depending on which state the vehicle is operating there are in some cases different limits and exemptions.

For operators wanting to operate vehicle at Higher Mass Limits (HML), CML is a minimum requirement coupled with the Intelligent Access Program (IAP) in certain states. IAP is the introduction to GPS monitored pre-approved routes.

What is Basic Fatigue Management?

BFM accreditation is a scheme under NHVAS (National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme) and is a means to enable drivers to work / drive for up to 14hrs in a 24hr period. The Scheme is governed and monitored by the NHVR  and by local jurisdiction and enforcement.

What is Maintenance Management?

Maintenance Management accreditation is a scheme under NHVAS (National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme) which by demonstrating strict adherence to service and maintenance schedules mitigates operators from having to conduct annual pit inspections on accredited units in certain states. This will not only free up pit inspection fees but also keep vehicles on the road reducing down time during registration period. The Scheme is governed and monitored by the NHVR (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) and by local jurisdiction and enforcement.
